Summer's here! You sure won't hear me complaining. Though it must be the New Englander in me that's too superstitious to pack away the wool socks and long underwear juuust yet. (We should be safe come July.)
Once again, I'll be heading up north to one of my favorite spots for one-week repertory theatre as only a small New England town can do: I've been cast in the Barnstormer's Season as Pauline Clench in One Man, Two Guvnors and as Phoebe in Toad of Toad Hall. If you don't know the Barnstormers, they're well worth a day trip to the Lakes Region or White Mountains of NH, since they're the only theatre in the US still offering a traditional and challenging 8 plays in 8 weeks!
I recently wrapped filming an incredibly fun gig: a supporting role in the indie mockumentary Wheel It Hard. Having grown up a fan of Christopher Guest's movies, I was just giddy at getting to play with this improv-based film style – and on roller skates! Could it GET better? Filming is still underway, but stay tuned for release info.
Like free Shakespeare? Been feeling like skipping over to the NH seacoast for a sunny weekend? Then you won't want to miss The Taming of the Shrew at the Player's Ring, performed by Seven Stages Shakespeare, and oh yeah directed by Andrew Codispoti. All performances are “Free For All, or Pay What You WILL,” and this quirky production keeps community at its heart, showcasing the talents of various local artists.
It's been a productive season of pavement pounding. Most recent auditions include Long Wharf Theatre, Hartford Stage, SpeakEasy Stage Co, Merrimack Rep, and of course lots going on at Christine Wyse Casting and Boston Casting.
I've also been working on a website redesign, which I hope to launch in the next few weeks.
Get out there and enjoy the sunshine! (And when the sun goes in, get thee to the theatre!)
